US President Donald Trump will travel to Scotland from July 25 to 29, where he is expected to meet UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss and refine the recently enacted UK-US trade deal, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
During the visit, Trump will stop at Turnberry and Aberdeen, and hold talks aimed at strengthening trade ties between the two nations. The landmark trade agreement, which came into effect on June 30, has already slashed US export tariffs for the UK’s automotive and aerospace sectors.
Under the new deal, UK car manufacturers benefit from a reduced 10% tariff quota, projected to save hundreds of millions of dollars annually while supporting jobs. The UK aerospace industry also received a boost, with the removal of 10% tariffs on key exports like aircraft engines and parts, now set at 0%.
Leavitt also announced that Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are scheduled to return to the UK for an official state visit from September 17 to 19. This marks Trump’s second state visit to the UK, a rare diplomatic honour.
“The President is honoured and looking forward to meeting His Majesty the King at Windsor Castle,” Leavitt stated.
The Royal Palace confirmed the invitation, noting that King Charles will host President Trump and the First Lady at Windsor Castle during the September visit. Their previous state visit occurred in 2019, hosted by the late Queen Elizabeth II. Further details of the upcoming state visit will be released in due course.
