US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that Ukraine could restore its pre-war borders from Russia with strong backing from the European Union and NATO, following his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump described Russia as a “paper tiger” hindered by economic woes after three and a half years of conflict. He urged Ukraine to seize the moment to “fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form.”

“After seeing the economic trouble it is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form,” Trump wrote, stressing the potential to restore the “original borders from where this war started.”

He criticized Russia’s prolonged conflict as a strategic failure, highlighting mounting economic pressures including gasoline shortages and a draining war economy. Trump praised Ukraine’s resilience and spirit, calling the current moment critical for decisive action.

The US President also reaffirmed continued American support through arms supplies to NATO, stating, “We will continue to supply weapons to NATO for NATO to do what they want with them.”

According to Al Jazeera, Russia currently occupies around one-fifth of Ukraine’s territory, including large parts of Donbas, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson. Despite this, Ukraine maintains control over key areas and continues to resist, particularly in the Donbas “fortress belt.”
