National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Tuesday confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon be visiting China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, during his talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New Delhi.

In his opening remarks at Hyderabad House, Doval highlighted the positive momentum in India-China relations, noting that the past nine months had witnessed peace along the borders, greater stability, and more substantial bilateral engagement since the two sides last met in Kazan.

“Our Prime Minister will be visiting for the SCO summit shortly. Therefore, I think these high-level talks assume a very special importance,” Doval said.

Marking 2025 as the 75th year of diplomatic ties, Doval said the milestone provides an opportunity for both nations to celebrate and further strengthen cooperation.

The NSA credited the leadership of India and China for creating a “new environment” that has allowed progress in multiple areas. Expressing optimism for the 24th round of Special Representative-level talks in New Delhi, he stressed that the maturity and responsibility of both diplomatic teams and border forces had contributed to maintaining peace.

Wang Yi, who arrived in India on Monday for a two-day visit, also met External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar earlier. According to sources, China has assured India it is working to address three of New Delhi’s key concerns—rare earths, fertilisers, and tunnel boring machines.
