The Republic of Moldova has officially become the 107th member of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), marking another step forward in global cooperation for clean and sustainable energy. The announcement was made by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday.

In a post shared on X, the MEA confirmed that the Instrument of Ratification was handed over by Moldova during a meeting between its Ambassador to India, Ana Taban, and P. S. Gangadhar, Joint Secretary (Economic Diplomacy) and Head of Depository, International Solar Alliance, in New Delhi.

“Moldova becomes the 107th member of the International Solar Alliance. The Republic of Moldova handed over the @isolaralliance Instrument of Ratification during the meeting of the Ambassador of Moldova to India Mrs. Ana Taban @ana_taban with P. S. Gangadhar @psgangadhar,” the post read.

The International Solar Alliance is a collaborative platform launched in 2015 by India and France during COP21 in Paris. Currently comprising 124 member and signatory countries, the ISA aims to promote solar energy as a means to ensure energy access, energy security, and climate action across the globe.

ISA’s mission is to unlock investments in solar energy by reducing costs of technology and financing, and to support solar adoption across key sectors like agriculture, healthcare, transportation, and power generation.

The Alliance supports member countries by:

  • Designing and testing new business models for solar deployment
  • Advising governments on solar-friendly energy legislation and policies
  • Aggregating solar demand to reduce technology costs
  • Enhancing access to finance through risk reduction
  • Providing training, data, and insights to solar engineers and policymakers

Founded on December 6, 2017, the ISA became the first intergovernmental organization headquartered in India. Since then, it has emerged as a critical platform for global solar energy collaboration, particularly for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

With Moldova’s entry, the Alliance continues to expand its footprint, reinforcing the collective global effort to transition to clean, affordable, and sustainable energy through solar power.
