A multi-party Indian parliamentary delegation, led by Nationalist Congress Party–Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SCP) MP Supriya Sule, paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the Indian Embassy in Ethiopia as part of a diplomatic outreach initiative.

The delegation’s visit comes in the wake of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists. The outreach is part of “Operation Sindoor,” a global effort spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to raise awareness and garner international support against terrorism.

The delegation, comprising members from across India’s political spectrum, engaged in high-level discussions with Ethiopian officials and representatives of the African Union (AU). Aam Aadmi Party MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney provided updates on the visit, highlighting a key meeting with Adem Farah, Vice President of Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party.

“On terrorism, he said Ethiopia has zero tolerance. He is closely following developments and was especially critical of the Pahalgam attack,” Sahney noted.

A particularly important engagement took place with the Chairperson of the AU’s Committee on Terrorism. Discussions focused on cross-border terrorism, illicit funding networks, and the use of advanced technologies by terror outfits. Sahney commended the African Union’s proactive stance, including the passage of a dedicated anti-terrorism act.

Earlier, the delegation held talks with Tagesse Chaffo, Speaker of Ethiopia’s House of Peoples’ Representatives. During the meeting, Supriya Sule underscored the unified nature of the Indian response to terrorism.

“This trip is about the attack on India’s soul in Pahalgam,” Sule said. “Our Prime Minister initiated Operation Sindoor to tell the world the truth. We have seven delegations visiting countries worldwide as Indians, setting aside our political ideologies, because when it comes to terror, we stand united.”

The Ethiopian leg of the outreach includes prominent Indian MPs such as Rajiv Pratap Rudy (BJP), Manish Tewari (Congress), Anurag Singh Thakur (BJP), Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu (TDP), Anand Sharma (Congress), V. Muraleedharan (BJP), and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin.

This delegation is one of seven multi-party teams deployed to different parts of the world, all with a shared mission: to inform global partners about the Pahalgam attack and reinforce India’s commitment to combating cross-border terrorism.
