“Historic Moment for US, Israel, and the World”: Trump to Address Nation Following Strikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites

US President Donald Trump announced he will address the nation at 10:00 PM local time (7:30 AM IST, Sunday, June 23) from the White House, following what he called a “very successful” military operation targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump declared: “This is a HISTORIC MOMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ISRAEL, AND THE WORLD. IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR.”

The announcement follows Trump’s confirmation that the US military launched coordinated airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear facilities — Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan — in response to escalating tensions in the region, particularly the ongoing war between Israel and Iran.

According to Trump, a “full payload of bombs” was dropped on Fordow, Iran’s deeply buried uranium enrichment site. The operation, he said, concluded with all aircraft safely exiting Iranian airspace.

“Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the world that could have done this. Now is the time for peace!” he added.

The Natanz facility, previously damaged by Israeli strikes, and the Isfahan site, believed to house near-weapons-grade uranium, were also hit. This marks the first direct US military action inside Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, a major escalation long avoided by previous US presidents.

Earlier on Friday night, B-2 stealth bombers took off from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, although it remains unconfirmed if they were involved in the strikes. These aircraft are the only ones capable of deploying the 30,000-pound Massive Ordnance Penetrator, designed to destroy hardened underground bunkers like Fordow.

The strike places the United States in open military engagement with Iran, following nearly ten days of escalating hostilities that began with Israel’s “Operation Rising Lion” on June 13. That attack targeted Iranian nuclear and military sites and was met with Iran’s retaliation through “Operation True Promise 3”, involving drone and missile strikes on Israeli energy infrastructure.

Trump’s upcoming address is expected to outline the rationale behind the strikes, the strategic goals of US involvement, and a potential path forward amid rapidly intensifying regional instability.
