External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will visit France, the European Union (EU), and Belgium from June 8 to 14, 2025, in a significant diplomatic outreach aimed at boosting India’s strategic engagement with Europe, the Ministry of External Affairs announced on Sunday.

The visit underscores India’s deepening partnerships with major European stakeholders. Jaishankar will begin his trip in Paris and Marseille, where he is scheduled to hold high-level bilateral talks with France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot.

“India and France have completed 25 years of strategic partnership. Our ties are built on deep trust and shared global outlooks, with close cooperation in key areas of strategic and contemporary importance,” the MEA stated.

In France, Jaishankar will also meet senior government officials, engage with think tanks and media, and participate in the inaugural Mediterranean Raisina Dialogue in Marseille.

His itinerary includes a Strategic Dialogue with EU High Representative and Vice President Kaja Kallas. The MEA highlighted the strengthening of India-EU ties, which received a notable push with the visit of the EU College of Commissioners to India earlier this year.

Jaishankar is also slated to hold discussions with European Commission and European Parliament leaders, along with interactions with leading European think tanks and the media.

In Belgium, the EAM will engage in bilateral consultations with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot. According to the MEA, India and Belgium share a robust relationship marked by cooperation in trade, technology, green energy, pharmaceuticals, the diamond sector, and strong people-to-people links.

Jaishankar will also meet members of the Indian diaspora in Belgium as part of his outreach.

The ministry emphasized that the visit is poised to provide fresh momentum to India’s strategic partnerships with France, the EU, and Belgium and to advance collaboration in a range of key areas.
