China has expressed deep concern over Israel’s recent military strikes on Iran, with its Foreign Ministry condemning actions that violate Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. Beijing also warned of the potentially severe consequences of the escalating conflict.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, in a post on X, stated, “China is closely following Israel’s attacks on Iran and is deeply concerned about the potential grave consequences of the operation. China opposes actions that violate Iran’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, and opposes moves that escalate tensions and enlarge conflicts.”

Emphasising that “the abrupt heating up of the region serves no one’s interests,” Lin urged all involved parties to exercise restraint. He said China is ready to play a constructive role in defusing the situation and promoting peace and stability in the region.

The statement follows Israel’s launch of Operation Rising Lion, a large-scale military campaign that targeted what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described as Iran’s “main enrichment facility” and “nuclear scientists” allegedly involved in the country’s bomb-making programme.

Netanyahu claimed the operation was a “very successful opening strike” and accused Tehran of continuing its pursuit of nuclear weapons despite repeated global warnings.

In a sharp response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared that the Iranian armed forces were fully prepared to retaliate. “The Zionist regime has made a grave mistake,” he said on X, promising that Iran will respond “with strength” and “show no mercy.”

Khamenei stated that the Iranian nation and its leadership are united in backing the armed forces, vowing that the attack would not go unanswered and warning Israel of serious consequences.

Tensions in the region remain high as global powers, including China, urge de-escalation to prevent a wider conflict.
