In a stunning display of fearless cricket, 14-year-old Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history by becoming the youngest-ever centurion in T20 cricket and the fastest Indian to score a century in the Indian Premier League (IPL). His explosive 101* off just 38 balls helped RR chase down a mammoth 210-run target against Gujarat Titans (GT) with ease.

Speaking after the match, the young left-hander called the achievement a “dream” and credited his fearless approach. “It feels really good. It was my first century in the IPL in my third innings. What I’ve been practicing for the last three-four months is showing now. There is no fear—I just focus on the ball, not the bowler,” Suryavanshi said.

Batting alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryavanshi formed a 166-run stand, now the highest partnership for any wicket in RR’s history. He praised Jaiswal for his mentorship during the innings: “He tells me what to do and gives me positive vibes.”

Suryavanshi’s assault included a 28-run over off Ishant Sharma and a 30-run over against T20 veteran Karim Janat, featuring multiple fours and sixes. His 101 off 38 balls* came at a staggering strike rate of 265.79, including 7 fours and 11 sixes. He reached his fifty in just 17 balls, becoming the youngest player to score an IPL half-century and registering the fifth-fastest fifty in the league’s history.

With his century in 35 balls, Suryavanshi now holds the record for the fastest IPL ton by an Indian, second only to Chris Gayle’s iconic 30-ball hundred. Born on March 27, 2011, the Bihar-born prodigy shattered the previous youngest T20 century record held by Vijay Zol.

Suryavanshi, who made his first-class debut for Bihar at just 12 years and 284 days, has been making waves since joining RR for Rs 1.1 crore during the last IPL mega-auction. He also played in the ACC U19 Asia Cup and for India U19 against Australia, where he scored a 58-ball ton.

In the match, Gujarat Titans posted 209/4 with strong knocks from Shubman Gill (84) and Jos Buttler (50*). However, Rajasthan Royals chased it down in just 15.5 overs, thanks to Suryavanshi’s heroics, a solid 70* from Jaiswal, and a finishing cameo by Riyan Parag (32* off 15 balls).

Despite the victory, RR sits eighth on the points table with three wins from 10 games, while GT remains third with six wins from nine matches.
