Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed delight over the widespread participation and global enthusiasm witnessed on the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, calling yoga a force that “unites the world.”

In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister shared photographs from the Yoga Day event in Visakhapatnam, where he participated alongside thousands of yoga practitioners.

“Yoga unites the world! Glad to see immense enthusiasm all across the planet for International Day of Yoga,” he wrote. “I took part in a Yoga Day programme in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. People from all walks of life also joined. Here are some glimpses.”

The scenic coastline of Visakhapatnam served as the backdrop for the national event, where the Prime Minister reiterated yoga’s role in promoting health, balance, and unity across borders.

Meanwhile, in Vadnagar, Gujarat, India achieved a significant feat on the same day. A total of 2,121 participants set a new Guinness World Record for the most people simultaneously performing the cobra pose (Bhujangasana) for over two minutes.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Richard Stunning explained that although the minimum requirement for the record was 250 participants holding the pose for at least one minute, 2,184 individuals exceeded expectations by holding it for two minutes and nine seconds. After discounting 64 entries, 2,121 participants were officially recorded for the achievement.

“This is a smashing Guinness World Record. Congratulations to everyone involved — a fantastic achievement,” Stunning said.

The 11th International Day of Yoga, celebrated globally on June 21, carried the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” promoting physical well-being alongside environmental harmony.
