Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has strongly condemned the alleged violent attack on BJP workers by members of the TIPRA Motha Party, calling the incident “disgraceful” and assuring strict action against those responsible.

The incident occurred during the broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat programme at booth number 30 in Asharambari, Khowai district, where BJP workers had gathered. According to BJP Mandal President Jayanta Debbarma, over 50 TIPRA Motha supporters stormed the venue with sharp weapons, rods, lathis, bricks, and bottles, injuring several workers and damaging vehicles, including 15 bikes and the house hosting the event.

“Strongly condemn the violent & undemocratic attack by TIPRA Motha party workers during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat programme at Asharambari,” CM Saha posted on X. “Several BJP karyakartas were injured, and three are undergoing treatment at GB Hospital. I have directed doctors to provide the best care and instructed police to take strict action. Such disgraceful acts won’t be tolerated.”

The Chief Minister personally visited the hospital to meet the injured workers and reiterated the state government’s commitment to peaceful politics.

Speaking to the media, Saha said, “Tripura has seen enough political violence. The Prime Minister wants peaceful politics, but today’s events have crossed all limits. This kind of force-driven politics will no longer work in Tripura.”

Debbarma added that some injured party workers suffered blows to the head, mouth, and chest. The incident has further intensified political tensions between the BJP and TIPRA Motha in the region.
