Security forces have initiated a search operation in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, as confirmed by official sources on Friday morning. The operation is currently focused in the Kulnar Bazipora area of the district. Further details regarding the operation are awaited.
The operation comes in the wake of rising security concerns in the region. On Thursday, an Army jawan lost his life from injuries sustained during an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Udhampur district. The encounter, based on specific intelligence, took place in Basantgarh, Udhampur. A fierce firefight broke out, and one of the soldiers sustained severe injuries in the initial exchange of fire, later succumbing to his wounds despite efforts to save him, according to the White Knight Corps of the Indian Army.
The Indian Army has remained on high alert and has conducted multiple search operations following the deadly terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 people. Security forces are actively working to neutralize remaining terrorists in the region.
