President Murmu Extends Ganesh Chaturthi Greetings, Urges Eco-Friendly Celebrations

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his wishes, praying for the happiness, health, and prosperity of all devotees.

President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday conveyed her greetings to Indians across the world on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, describing Lord Ganesh as the deity of “wisdom and discernment.”

In a post on X, the President said, “Heartiest Ganesh Chaturthi greetings to all Indians residing in the country and abroad! This great festival is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm as the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Ganesh, the deity of wisdom and discernment.”

She prayed for Lord Ganesh’s blessings in removing obstacles from the path of both individual and national progress, while also stressing the need for an environmentally conscious approach to celebrations. “With his blessings, all countrymen, while adopting an environment-friendly lifestyle, should remain dedicated to building a strong India. Ganpati Bappa Morya!” Murmu added.

Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayak Chavithi, is widely celebrated across India and abroad as a festival of new beginnings and the removal of obstacles. Homes and community pandals are adorned with idols of Lord Ganesh, accompanied by prayers, music, processions, and festive delicacies.

In Mumbai, thousands of devotees thronged the famous Shree Siddhivinayak Temple to mark the occasion, while pandals across the country welcomed devotees in large numbers.
