PM Modi to Unveil Development Projects Worth Over ₹12,000 Crore in Bihar and West Bengal

In Motihari, Bihar, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for projects worth over ₹7,200 crore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch a slew of major development projects in Bihar and West Bengal on Friday, with a combined investment exceeding ₹12,000 crore. The visit includes inaugurations and foundation stone-laying ceremonies across sectors such as infrastructure, railways, energy, fisheries, IT, and rural development.

In Motihari, Bihar, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for projects worth over ₹7,200 crore. These include:

  • Rail Projects: Doubling of key rail lines, automatic signalling upgrades, and infrastructure development for Vande Bharat trains across North Bihar.
  • Road Projects: Four-laning of the Ara bypass and Parariya-Mohania section of NH-319, and improved connectivity between Bihar and Jharkhand via NH-333C.
  • Technology & Startups: New STPI facilities in Darbhanga and Patna to support IT/ITES and startup ecosystems.
  • Fisheries: Launch of modern aquaculture projects under the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana to boost rural livelihoods.
  • Train Services: Flagging off of four new Amrit Bharat trains connecting Bihar to Delhi and Lucknow.
  • Women & Rural Development: Release of ₹400 crore to 61,500 Self-Help Groups under DAY-NRLM, ₹160 crore to 40,000 PMAY-G beneficiaries, and Griha Pravesh for 12,000 families.

In Durgapur, West Bengal, PM Modi will launch and dedicate projects worth over ₹5,000 crore, including:

  • Energy Infrastructure: Foundation stone for BPCL’s ₹1,950 crore City Gas Distribution project in Bankura and Purulia districts.
  • Natural Gas Pipeline: Dedication of the 132-km Durgapur to Kolkata pipeline section under the PM Urja Ganga Project.
  • Clean Energy Initiatives: Inauguration of Flue Gas Desulphurization systems at Durgapur and Raghunathpur thermal plants to reduce pollution.
  • Rail Connectivity: Dedication of the Purulia-Kotshila rail line doubling project and two road overbridges under the Setu Bharatam scheme.

Highlighting the importance of these initiatives, PM Modi said the projects would not only generate employment but also enhance connectivity, boost the local economy, and bring long-term benefits to the people of both states. The events are seen as part of the Centre’s broader push for regional development and infrastructure enhancement ahead of upcoming elections.
