Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP) over their criticism of Operation Sindoor, accusing them of sympathising with Pakistan and questioning the Indian Army’s response to terrorism.

During a public rally in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, PM Modi said those who harm India would not be spared—even if they hide in ‘paataal lok’ (hell).

“This is the first time I am in Kashi after Operation Sindoor. After the brutal killing of 26 innocent civilians in Pahalgam, I had taken a vow to avenge the sindoor of my daughters. With the blessings of Mahadev, we fulfilled that promise,” the Prime Minister said, dedicating the operation’s success to Lord Mahadev.

He sharply criticised Congress MP Praniti Shinde for calling Operation Sindoor a “tamasha,” alleging that the Opposition was insulting the bravery of Indian soldiers.

“Congress has called Operation Sindoor a ‘tamasha’—they are mocking the courage of our armed forces. Referring to the sacred ‘sindoor’ of our sisters in this way is a disgrace,” he said.

PM Modi also targeted Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who had questioned the timing of Operation Mahadev, calling it a result of vote bank politics and appeasement.

“Should we seek their permission before acting against terrorists? Must we wait while killers roam free? These are the same people who gave clean chits to terrorists when they were in power. Now they object to even the name ‘Sindoor’,” he added.

The Prime Minister accused both Congress and SP of “crying alongside Pakistan”, saying that while Pakistan’s terror handlers were grieving over the loss of militants, leaders from these parties seemed equally upset.

“Everyone knows Pakistan is in pain. But Congress and SP cannot bear that pain either. When their masters across the border cry, they cry too,” PM Modi remarked.

Operation Sindoor was carried out on May 7 in retaliation for the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 civilians dead.

PM Modi concluded with a stern warning to India’s enemies: “When injustice and terrorism arise, Mahadev takes his Rudra form. The world saw that face of India during Operation Sindoor. Anyone who dares to threaten India will not survive—not even in paataal lok.”
