Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 123rd edition of his monthly radio address ‘Mann Ki Baat’, celebrated the rise of women-led enterprises across India, highlighting inspirational stories of transformation through self-help groups, local innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Underscoring the strength of “Women-Led Development”, PM Modi cited several grassroots initiatives that are reshaping local economies and building self-reliance:

Millet Magic from Telangana:

Women in Bhadrachalam, Telangana, who once worked as daily wage labourers, are now producing millet-based biscuits under the brand “Bhadradri Millet Magic”, which are reaching markets from Hyderabad to London.
They have also launched ‘Giri Sanitary Pads’, producing 40,000 pads in just three months, distributed affordably in schools and offices.

“These women have scripted a new success story through Self-Help Groups and training, transforming their lives and empowering their communities,” PM Modi said.

Jowar Roti from Kalaburagi:

In Karnataka’s Kalaburagi, women have turned the humble jowar roti into a growing brand.
Forming a cooperative, they now produce over 3,000 rotis daily, supplying to Bengaluru markets and food delivery platforms, significantly boosting their income and visibility.

“What once was confined to village kitchens is now flavouring urban homes and changing fortunes,” said the Prime Minister.

‘Didi Canteen’ in Balaghat:

In Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat, Suma Uike, trained in mushroom farming and animal husbandry, has expanded her work through Self Help Groups.
What began as a small venture now includes a ‘Didi Canteen’ and ‘Thermal Therapy Centre’, reflecting a journey of self-confidence and financial independence.

“These stories of determination and enterprise from different corners of India show how women are not just changing their own destinies, but also that of the nation,” PM Modi concluded.

The Prime Minister lauded these examples as symbols of New India’s spirit, where women are becoming economic change-makers through innovation, collaboration, and grassroots leadership.
