Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level security meeting at his residence on Monday, bringing together key figures including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the three service chiefs — Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri was also present at the meeting, which came amid heightened tensions following Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to cross-border attacks originating from Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

According to sources, PM Modi reiterated his firm stance that India will respond with full force to any aggression, stating clearly: “Wahan se goli chalegi, toh yahan se gola chalega” (If bullets are fired from there, we will respond with bombs). The Prime Minister’s directive was first issued on May 11, following a series of attacks on Indian air bases — an event described as the turning point in India’s posture.

Military sources emphasized that Operation Sindoor is ongoing, and that India will continue to respond decisively to any further provocation. “If they fire, we will fire. If they attack, we will attack,” the sources added, underlining the government’s resolve.

Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed that it has completed its assigned missions under Operation Sindoor with “precision and professionalism.” However, it noted that broader operations are still in progress, and urged the public to avoid speculation or sharing unverified information.

“Operations were conducted in a deliberate and discreet manner, aligned with national objectives. A detailed briefing will be held in due course,” the IAF said in a post on X.

Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, aims to dismantle terror infrastructure across the border, following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir last month that claimed 26 lives. The strikes have already taken out multiple camps belonging to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The meeting reflects the government’s ongoing coordination across the defence and diplomatic spectrum as India remains on high alert along the Line of Control (LoC).
