Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to Delhi on Thursday after successfully concluding a three-nation visit to Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia, aimed at deepening India’s bilateral and multilateral engagements across key sectors.
The visit began in Cyprus, where PM Modi held discussions with President Nikos Christodoulides. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties and expressed strong support for the UN-led efforts for a peaceful resolution to the Cyprus issue, emphasizing a bizonal, bicommunal federation with political equality as per the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions.
The Prime Minister then travelled to Canada to participate in the G7 Summit held in Kananaskis. On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi held high-level meetings with world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. In his message after the summit, PM Modi expressed his gratitude to the Canadian government for hosting the event and reaffirmed India’s commitment to global peace, prosperity, and sustainability.
“Concluding a productive Canada visit. Thankful to the Canadian people and Government for hosting a successful G7 Summit, which witnessed fruitful discussions on diverse global issues,” PM Modi posted on X.
The final leg of the tour took PM Modi to Croatia, marking a significant milestone in India-Croatia bilateral relations. In Zagreb, he held delegation-level talks with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, discussing a broad range of partnerships including commerce, culture, science, and defence. He also met President Zoran Milanovic to further bolster strategic cooperation.
“Grateful to the people and Government of Croatia for the warm welcome during what has been a truly landmark visit. This visit ushers in a new chapter in our shared journey of friendship and extensive cooperation,” PM Modi shared on X.
With engagements that strengthened India’s strategic, economic, and cultural ties, the three-nation tour is being seen as a key diplomatic effort in enhancing India’s global partnerships and presence.
