National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Vice Presidential nominee CP Radhakrishnan was felicitated on Friday at the residence of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, where several senior leaders and MPs gathered to extend their support.
Union Ministers and BJP MPs, including Anurag Thakur, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Kangana Ranaut, Rekha Sharma, Kiran Chaudhary, and Kamaljeet Sehrawat, joined the event to congratulate the NDA candidate.
Earlier in the day, Radhakrishnan arrived at Pralhad Joshi’s residence to interact with senior BJP and alliance leaders. Speaking to ANI, BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat lauded his decades-long political career, saying, “As a Lok Sabha MP, Governor, and grassroots leader, our Vice President nominee has dedicated his life to the party and the nation.”
On August 20, NDA leaders had also held a meeting at Joshi’s residence with Radhakrishnan. Two days later, the former Tamil Nadu BJP chief filed his nomination papers in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by senior Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, JP Nadda, Kiren Rijiju, and others. His nomination included 20 proposers and 20 supporters from the alliance.
Radhakrishnan was formally declared the NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate on August 17, following a decision by the BJP Parliamentary Board.
The Vice Presidential election is scheduled for September 9, with both polling and counting set to take place on the same day. The last date for filing nominations was August 21, while withdrawals will be permitted until August 25.
The post fell vacant after Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned on July 21, the opening day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, citing health reasons.
