As tensions remain high along the India-Pakistan border, missile fragments were recovered in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer and Barmer districts on Saturday, prompting heightened security measures and public safety advisories.

According to local officials in Jaisalmer, a projectile landed early in the morning, though no casualties or damage were reported. “We got the news early morning; there has been no damage to life. Army and police personnel are at the spot,” said Patwari Sabhay Kumar. Police have since made public announcements urging residents to stay indoors, halt all movements, and remain vigilant.

Similar scenes unfolded in Barmer’s Gida Pareu area, where locals discovered multiple fragments of unidentified missile debris scattered across several locations within a five-kilometre radius. The incident, which occurred around 4:42 am, was accompanied by loud explosions and visible flashes of light, according to eyewitness Mohan Chowdhary. “There was smoke, and we found debris at multiple places. But people here are calm and unafraid,” he said.

In Baldev Nagar, near Uttarlai Air Force Station and Jalipa Military Station, residents reported hearing explosions between 5:15 and 5:30 am, soon followed by the discovery of additional debris, believed to be from Pakistani projectiles.

Meanwhile, the Indian Armed Forces launched precision retaliatory strikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting key Pakistani military infrastructure including command and control centres, radar stations, and ammunition depots in response to Pakistan’s continued targeting of civilian infrastructure and cross-border shelling.

Security personnel have cordoned off affected areas, and the district administrations remain on high alert as the situation develops.
