Lok Sabha to Debate Three Major Bills, Including Sports Governance and Indian Ports Legislation

The Lok Sabha is set for a busy session on Monday, with a packed agenda featuring multiple committee reports, ministerial statements, and the consideration of three key legislative bills.

The proceedings will open at 11 a.m. with the Question Hour, followed by the laying of papers from various ministries, including Culture, Education, Finance, Environment, and more.

Among the notable reports to be presented are:

Ministerial statements will address topics such as credit flows to MSMEs, cyber security, white-collar crime, insurance regulation, and corporate affairs.

The legislative agenda includes three major bills:

  1. National Sports Governance Bill, 2025 – Introduced by Mansukh Mandaviya, this seeks to promote sports development, ensure welfare for sportspersons, align governance with Olympic and Paralympic Charters, and establish a unified dispute resolution mechanism.
  2. National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025 – Also moved by Mandaviya, this bill proposes changes to the National Anti-Doping Act, 2022, and will be discussed alongside the Sports Governance Bill.
  3. Indian Ports Bill, 2025 – Moved by Sarbananda Sonowal, the bill aims to modernise and consolidate port laws, set up State Maritime Boards and a Maritime State Development Council, address environmental and security challenges, and streamline port-related dispute resolution.

Debates and voting on these bills are expected later in the day.
