External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with an All-Party Delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi following the group’s multi-nation diplomatic outreach to Russia, Latvia, Slovenia, Greece, and Spain. The visit aimed to brief international partners on Operation Sindoor and India’s firm stance against terrorism in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.

Taking to X, Jaishankar wrote, “Glad to interact with the All Party Delegation led by @KanimozhiDMK that visited Russia, Latvia, Slovenia, Greece and Spain.”

Speaking after the meeting, Kanimozhi described the visit as “very positive” and stressed that its bipartisan composition—featuring mostly opposition MPs alongside one BJP representative—sent a clear message of India’s national unity on matters of terrorism.

“In spite of our political differences, we stand together as one country,” said Kanimozhi. “Every time there has been an act of terrorism in India, we have been able to trace it back to Pakistan. But terrorism doesn’t stop with India—it affects the whole world. No country should be sponsoring it.”

The delegation also included Rajeev Rai (Samajwadi Party), Mian Altaf Ahmad (Jammu and Kashmir National Conference), Brijesh Chowta (BJP), Prem Chand Gupta (RJD), Ashok Kumar Mittal (AAP), and former diplomats Manjeev S. Puri and Jawed Ashraf.

This was the second such outreach by an Indian parliamentary delegation. Earlier, Jaishankar also met with another All-Party Delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, which visited Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia to advocate global solidarity against cross-border terrorism.

Jha remarked after that meeting, “We gave the External Affairs Minister a detailed briefing about our visit. We conveyed that terrorism from across the border has affected India for decades.”

With representatives from across the political spectrum—BJP, Congress, TMC, CPI-M, JD(U), AAP, and others—these visits underline a rare bipartisan consensus on foreign policy when it comes to combating terrorism. The initiatives highlight India’s commitment to regional and global peace through diplomatic engagement and a united internal front.
