Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday asserted that India is no longer a passive observer but a driving force capable of reshaping global currents, backed by the mantra of “Reform, Perform, and Transform.”
Addressing the ET World Leaders Forum 2025 in New Delhi, PM Modi said India’s economic resilience and policy reforms have positioned it to help the world overcome the phase of slow growth.
“India is not a country that throws pebbles into stagnant waters; it is a nation strong enough to redirect fast-flowing currents,” he remarked, underlining India’s growing role in shaping global change.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of research, innovation, and private sector participation in propelling India’s development. He highlighted the need for investment in clean energy, quantum technology, battery storage, advanced materials, and biotechnology—sectors that will, he said, “infuse new energy into the vision of a developed India.”
PM Modi noted that India is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy, with experts projecting its contribution to global growth to soon reach nearly 20 percent. He attributed this strength to macroeconomic stability built over the past decade, pointing out that despite challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, India’s fiscal deficit is set to decline to 4.4 percent while domestic companies raise record funds from capital markets.
Showcasing India’s technological progress, the Prime Minister revealed that the first Made in India semiconductor chip will enter the market by the end of this year, while rapid work is underway on indigenous 6G technology.
“India today is the world’s fastest-growing major economy,” he said, affirming the country’s readiness to lead in both economic and technological spheres.
