In the wake of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Indian Air Force Chief Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, sources told ANI.

This high-level interaction came a day after Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi also held discussions with PM Modi at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence in Delhi. The meetings follow a recent strategic review led by the Prime Minister, which included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, all three service chiefs, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

The high-alert security consultations were convened after a terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. In response, the government has vowed a decisive crackdown on terrorism, promising strict action against both the attackers and their cross-border conspirators.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) held an emergency meeting shortly after the incident. Officials reportedly highlighted evidence of cross-border involvement and noted the attack occurred against the backdrop of successful elections and developmental progress in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a strong diplomatic signal, the government has suspended the Indus Water Treaty and granted the armed forces full operational autonomy to determine the timing, targets, and tactics for any retaliatory measures.

Opposition parties have expressed unanimous support for the government’s actions, marking a rare moment of political unity in the face of external threats.
