Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and MLA T Harish Rao on Saturday dismissed allegations made by suspended party MLC K Kavitha, accusing her of merely repeating the opposition’s criticism against him and the party.
Reaffirming his loyalty to party chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and Telangana, Harish Rao rejected accusations linked to the CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram project, stressing that his political journey has always been transparent.
“My 25-year political journey is like an open book. For some time now, opposition parties have been making allegations against me and the party, and now she is repeating those same comments. I leave it to her wisdom as to why,” Harish Rao told reporters.
He underlined his commitment to bring back KCR and the BRS to power, adding that the current Revanth Reddy-led Congress government is deliberately dismantling systems built under KCR, leaving farmers and flood-affected communities in distress.
On September 1, Kavitha had alleged that Harish Rao and Santosh Rao were responsible for tainting KCR’s image in the Kaleshwaram issue, claiming they conspired against her and the former chief minister. Following her remarks, the BRS suspended her, after which she resigned from her MLC post.
Kavitha defended KCR, insisting he would emerge “spotless, like a pearl washed clean” in the CBI probe, while describing the Kaleshwaram project as a legacy that would be remembered for centuries. She also accused Harish and Santosh Rao of acting at the behest of CM Revanth Reddy.
The Telangana government recently ordered a CBI inquiry into the project, alongside a commission led by former Supreme Court judge Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose to examine alleged irregularities, misuse of funds, and corruption in the construction of barrages at Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla.
