Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Sunday hit out at the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), accusing the party of allowing derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother during a rally in Bihar.
Singh alleged that the incident reflected the “return of Lalu Yadav–era governance” and warned that the people of Bihar would hold the RJD and its allies accountable.
“It is not surprising that such a thing happened from Tejashwi Yadav’s platform, because there is no difference between Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav. They have made a huge mistake by using indecent language for the Prime Minister’s mother, insulting the pride of Bihar. If, by mistake, their government comes to power, this is what will happen. Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi should apologise; otherwise, the people of Bihar will punish them,” Singh told reporters.
The controversy erupted after Union Minister of State Nityanand Rai shared a purported video on X, showing an unidentified man using abusive language for PM Modi in Tejashwi Yadav’s presence during an RJD meeting.
Rai escalated his attack on the RJD leader, likening him to mythological villains. “Tejashwi Yadav’s goons have committed a grave sin. By repeatedly abusing PM Modi and his mother, they are spewing venom. Tejashwi, we will destroy you like Kansa. The people of Bihar will soon destroy you with their votes. You are spreading poison like Kaliya Naag,” Rai said.
Echoing similar sentiments, Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal claimed the episode reflected the “fear of defeat” within the INDIA bloc. “The people of Bihar reject this behaviour. The Prime Minister’s late mother was abused at Tejashwi Yadav’s rally. This shows how distressed the INDI alliance, RJD and Congress are. BJP will expose Tejashwi Yadav for this,” he said.
