Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) state-level leadership meeting in Kochi on Friday, BJP State General Secretary Anoop Antony Joseph confirmed.

The meeting comes as the party prepares for the upcoming local body elections in Kerala. Shah, who visited the state last month to address ward-level members, is expected to interact with party workers from the district to the state level during the session.

Shah arrived in Kochi on Thursday and was welcomed at the airport by Kerala BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar along with other senior leaders. Sharing visuals of his arrival, the state unit posted on X: “Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji was received by the BJP State President Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, and other senior leaders at Kochi Airport.”

Ahead of his two-state tour, Shah wrote on X that he would attend the Manorama News Conclave and meet party workers in Kochi before travelling to Tamil Nadu, where he will lead the BJP’s ‘Booth Karyakarta Sammelan’ in Tirunelveli.

Tamil Nadu heads for Assembly elections next year, though the Election Commission is yet to formally announce the poll schedule.
