The trailer of veteran actor Anupam Kher’s directorial venture ‘Tanvi The Great’ has struck an emotional chord with audiences and industry stalwarts alike, earning high praise from Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, and others.
The film, which centers around Tanvi Raina, a young autistic woman determined to fulfil her late father’s dream of saluting the Indian flag at Siachen, promises to deliver a powerful and heartwarming narrative. Debutant Shubhangi Dutt plays the titular role.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Shah Rukh Khan lauded Kher’s courage and creativity, writing, “To my friend @AnupamPKher who has always taken chances… whether it’s acting, filmmaking or life!! The trailer of #TanviTheGreat is looking awesome. All the best on this journey!!”
Anil Kapoor echoed similar sentiments, calling the film “powerful, heartfelt, and deeply inspiring.” He added, “Some stories stay with you long after the screen fades to black…#TanviTheGreat is one of them.”
The film had its world premiere at Cannes, receiving a standing ovation, and has since been showcased at several international festivals including New York, Houston, and Austin. Hollywood legend Robert De Niro even attended the New York screening.
In a conversation with ANI, Kher reflected on the film’s emotional core: “We all believe in goodness, but the pace of life makes us forget it. This film helps reconnect with those buried feelings.”
The cast also features Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, and Karan Tacker, with music composed by Oscar-winner M. M. Keeravani. The project is a collaboration between Anupam Kher Studios, NFDC, Excel Entertainment, and AA Films.
‘Tanvi The Great’ is set to release in theatres nationwide on July 18, 2025.
