A late-night fire in Delhi’s Dilshad Garden claimed the lives of two individuals, including a 24-year-old man, fire department officials confirmed on Sunday.

The blaze broke out at Kodi Colony around 11:32 PM, prompting an immediate response from the Delhi Fire Services. “We reached the spot and carried out firefighting operations,” said Fire Officer Anup Singh. “After extinguishing the flames, we found that two e-rickshaws and motorcycles had been completely gutted. Unfortunately, two people lost their lives in the incident.”

The deceased were identified as a 24-year-old man and a 60-year-old man. Preliminary reports suggest the fire may have been triggered by the charging of e-rickshaws, although the exact cause is still under investigation.

The tragic incident follows a similar fire that broke out on Friday at an e-rickshaw charging station in Delhi’s Ghonda area. That fire also required a swift response from the fire department, with four fire engines dispatched to contain the flames.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the Dilshad Garden fire as concerns grow over the safety of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in residential areas.
