Panic gripped the national capital on Friday as more than 20 schools in Delhi received bomb threats via email, prompting large-scale evacuations and emergency response measures. The Delhi Police and Fire Department swiftly responded to the threats, which were sent in a disturbingly violent message.

According to officials, Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar was among the first to alert authorities. The threats were followed by similar alerts from several prominent schools, including St. Thomas School in Dwarka, Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj, The Mother’s International School in Hauz Khas, and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate.

The Delhi Fire Services confirmed that its personnel, along with bomb disposal squads and dog units, were dispatched to all affected locations. “A thorough sanitisation and Anti-Sabotage (AS) check is being conducted. So far, no suspicious materials have been found,” the Delhi Police said in a statement.

The email containing the threats included explicit references to explosives (trinitrotoluene) allegedly planted in classrooms and carried a disturbing message expressing hatred, suicidal intent, and criticism of mental healthcare. Authorities are treating the case with utmost seriousness and have launched a cyber investigation to trace the origin of the emails.

This wave of threats comes just days after ten schools and one college in Delhi, including St. Stephen’s College, received similar warnings. In one instance, the alleged bomb was claimed to be planted in the college library. Again, no explosives were found during the checks.

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya sent out an urgent message to parents stating: “Due to a potential bomb threat received this morning, and as advised by the police, the school will remain closed today. A Bomb Disposal Squad is conducting a full sanitisation of the premises.”

Earlier in the week, two other schools in Chanakyapuri and Dwarka had also received emailed threats, which turned out to be hoaxes. Still, the recurrence has raised concerns over student safety and the exploitation of mass fear through digital threats.

The Delhi Police have urged school administrations to remain alert and report any suspicious activity. Investigations are ongoing, with cybersecurity teams working to identify the sender and determine whether the threats are part of a larger coordinated attempt to disrupt public peace.
