Panic spread across parts of the national capital on Tuesday after several prominent educational institutions, including St. Thomas School, Vasant Valley School, and St. Stephen’s College, received bomb threats via email.
Swift action followed as teams from the Delhi Police, Fire Department, Bomb Squad, Dog Squad, and Special Staff were deployed to the locations. The premises were immediately evacuated, and extensive anti-sabotage checks were conducted.
According to officials, fire tenders and police teams reached St. Thomas School and Vasant Valley School after they received threatening emails. The Delhi Fire Department confirmed that no suspicious items were found during the searches, and investigations are ongoing.
At St. Stephen’s College in Delhi University, an email claimed a bomb had been planted in the library. The college was evacuated, and the area was cordoned off for detailed inspection. As of now, nothing alarming has been discovered, the Delhi Police confirmed.
Authorities also stated that no other colleges have reported similar threats so far.
These incidents follow a similar pattern to bomb threats sent on Monday to two schools in the Chanakyapuri and Dwarka areas. In those cases as well, no explosives were found. One of the emails reportedly contained anti-Tamil Nadu government messages, which are now part of the police investigation.
The police have initiated a cyber investigation to trace the origin of the threatening emails and are treating the matter with high priority, given the recurring nature of the threats.
