Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Saturday extended the judicial custody of Gaganpreet Kaur in the Dhaula Kuan BMW accident case for 14 more days, till October 11.

Judicial Magistrate First Class Ankit Garg passed the order after Kaur was produced before the court at the end of her earlier custody period. She will next be presented on October 11, while the court is expected to pronounce its decision on her bail plea later today at 3:30 PM.

Kaur, arrested in connection with the accident, had earlier been remanded to two days of judicial custody on September 15, which was later extended by 10 days on September 17. The court has also directed jail authorities to ensure she receives proper medical care during custody.

During the hearing, counsel for the complainant, Advocate Atul Kumar, argued that CCTV footage clearly established the car’s negligence.

“It was not the bike that hit the car, but the car that hit the bike. The BMW X5 was being driven rashly and at high speed. It slowed down while turning, the bike came parallel, and then the car struck it,” he said.

He further alleged that Kaur declined ambulance assistance for the victim and instead took him to her own nursing home, claiming it was a deliberate move to avoid legal consequences.

The Delhi Police have invoked charges including culpable homicide not amounting to murder against Kaur. The accident led to the death of Navjot Singh, Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
