Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday expressed grief over the death of eight people in a tragic road accident in Bulandshahr and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.
According to an official release, the Chief Minister took immediate cognisance of the incident and directed district officials to ensure prompt medical assistance to the injured. He also wished them a speedy recovery.
The accident occurred near Ghatal village on National Highway 34 in the Arnia police station area when a container truck rammed into a tractor carrying devotees. The tractor overturned under the impact, killing eight people — including a child and two women — and injuring around 45 others.
Bulandshahr SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh said about 60 devotees from Kasganj were travelling to Gogamedi in Rajasthan to visit Jaharpir (Gogaji). “Eight people have died, while 45 others are undergoing treatment. Three of them are critical and on ventilator support. The container truck has been seized,” he added.
District Magistrate, SSP, and other officials rushed to the site soon after the accident. Rescue operations were carried out, with the injured admitted to nearby hospitals and the deceased sent for post-mortem examination.
Further investigation is underway.
