The Government of Uttar Pradesh and the United Kingdom on Tuesday signed a Chevening scholarship agreement that will enable five students from the state every year to pursue higher studies in the UK on a fully funded basis.

The agreement was formalized during the visit of British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron, who met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow.

“It’s wonderful to be here in Lucknow today to sign this agreement with the Chief Minister. The Chevening scholarships will allow five students every year for the next three years to study in the UK, fully funded, reflecting the growing strength of UK–India relations,” Cameron told ANI after the meeting.

She also highlighted the recently signed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and Vision 35 framework, noting that both will open new avenues for business and education partnerships between the two nations.

The Chevening Scholarship Programme, funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office along with partner organisations, offers global students opportunities to pursue master’s degrees in the UK. Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree, apply to at least three eligible courses, and secure an unconditional offer from one.

The scholarship covers tuition fees, monthly stipend, travel costs, visa expenses, and additional allowances, ensuring recipients can focus fully on their academic and leadership journey.
