Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed confidence that India’s semiconductor industry will soon reshape the global economy, stating that even the “smallest chips made in India will drive the biggest change in the world.”
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Semicon India 2025, PM Modi underlined that though India entered the semiconductor sector late, its progress is now “unstoppable.” He noted the presence of delegates from nearly 50 countries, calling it proof of the world’s trust in India’s youth, innovation, and capabilities.
“The world trusts India. The world believes in India. And the world is ready to build a semiconductor future with India,” he said.
Comparing the past and present, the Prime Minister remarked that while coal and oil defined the 20th century, the 21st century is powered by semiconductors. “This tiny chip may be small in size, but it has the power to accelerate the progress of the entire world,” he added.
PM Modi highlighted that the global semiconductor market, currently valued at USD 600 billion, is projected to cross USD 1 trillion in the coming years. India, he said, is moving beyond back-end support to become a full-stack semiconductor nation, with policies rooted in long-term commitment.
“Design in India and Made in India—this will be the identity of the future,” he concluded.
