Apple on Tuesday unveiled the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, the flagship models of its latest iPhone 17 lineup, alongside the standard iPhone 17 and the all-new iPhone Air. The Pro series comes with a redesigned camera system, upgraded performance, and Apple’s largest battery yet.

Starting at USD 1,099 for the Pro and USD 1,199 for the Pro Max (both with 256GB storage), the new models feature a dramatic redesign on the rear, introducing a full-width camera plateau that spans the entire body. Despite the design change, the phones retain their familiar sizes—6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max.

For the first time, all three cameras on the Pro models use 48-megapixel sensors, with the telephoto lens receiving the most significant boost. It now includes a 56% larger sensor, offering up to 8x optical-quality zoom. The devices also support ProMotion displays with 120Hz refresh rates.

Apple has shifted back to an aluminium build with scratch-resistant Ceramic Shield on both front and back, while introducing new colours: silver, blue, and a striking orange.

Under the hood, the Pro models run on the A19 Pro chipset, a 3nm processor with a six-core CPU and five-core GPU, which Apple claims is the fastest in any smartphone.

The standout feature is battery performance: the iPhone 17 Pro Max offers up to 39 hours of video playback, compared to 33 hours on last year’s 16 Pro Max. Apple notes that eSIM-only versions (sold in markets like the US) deliver the best endurance, while models with physical SIM slots may see battery life reduced by about two hours.
