Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday night attended the vibrant ‘Kesariya Garba’ Navratri celebration at the Ram Katha Ground in Gandhinagar, marking the ongoing Sharadiya Navratri festivities.
Shah’s participation followed his visits a day earlier to Garba events at Vrajdham Apartment and Orchid Legacy in Ahmedabad’s Sarkhej area. Sharing glimpses of the celebrations on X, the Union Minister expressed devotion to Goddess Durga, writing, “On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, I participated in the Navratri Garba festival at Vrajdham Apartment and Orchid Legacy in Ahmedabad’s Sarkhej Ward and received the blessings of Mother Goddess.”
Navratri, one of the most widely celebrated Hindu festivals, spans nine nights in honour of Goddess Durga and her nine avatars. In Gujarat, the festival is marked with grand cultural performances, devotional songs, fasting, and energetic dance traditions like Garba and Dandiya Raas, drawing thousands of devotees and performers each evening.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended greetings on the occasion. On the second day of Navratri, dedicated to Maa Brahmacharini, he prayed for the well-being of devotees. “On this Navratri, today, millions of salutations at the feet of Maa Brahmacharini! May the Goddess bless all her devotees with courage and restraint,” PM Modi posted on X, also sharing a devotional hymn.
