Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a sweeping inquiry into the recognition and admission processes of all universities, colleges, and educational institutions across the state, aiming to ensure transparency and safeguard students’ futures.

According to an official release, every Divisional Commissioner will set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising a senior administrative officer, a police officer, and an education department representative. These teams will carry out ground-level inspections to verify whether courses offered are duly recognised by the appropriate regulatory authorities.

Each institution will be required to submit an affidavit confirming that it offers only recognised programs, along with a complete list of courses and relevant recognition certificates. The Chief Minister stressed that no student should be enrolled in an unapproved course.

Strict action will be taken against institutions found running unrecognised programs or making illegal admissions, including full refund of fees collected with interest. Officials warned that negligence at any level will not be tolerated.

The investigation will begin immediately, with district-level inquiries to be completed within 15 days and consolidated reports submitted to the government.

Calling the move more than a mere formality, CM Yogi underlined that the exercise directly impacts the quality of education and the future of students.
