The Indian Army, in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gurez sector’s Naushehra Nard area, neutralising two terrorists in a swift joint operation.

According to the Chinar Corps, intelligence inputs from J&K Police alerted troops about a likely infiltration bid. The Army said its personnel observed suspicious movement near the LoC, following which the infiltrators opened indiscriminate fire. The troops retaliated effectively, killing two terrorists on the spot.

“Based on intelligence provided by JKP regarding a likely infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged, which resulted in terrorists opening fire. Troops responded with effective fire, neutralising two terrorists,” Chinar Corps stated in a post on X.

The latest encounter comes against the backdrop of recent infiltration attempts along the LoC. On August 13, Havildar Ankit Kumar laid down his life while foiling a similar infiltration bid in the Uri sector of Baramulla. The Army has since paid tribute to his bravery, describing his sacrifice as an example of “immense valour.”

Just a day earlier, Chinar Corps also mourned the loss of Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar, who died while on operational duty in Baramulla district.

The Army continues to maintain heightened vigilance along the LoC, with search operations underway in Gurez to ensure no further infiltration attempts succeed.
