Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accompanied by his wife Sonal Shah, hoisted the Indian national flag at his Krishna Menon Marg residence in New Delhi on Tuesday, marking his participation in the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign ahead of Independence Day.

Visuals from the event showed the couple unfurling a large Tiranga on their terrace, with the residence adorned in the colours of the national flag.

Launched under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is now in its fourth year. According to the Ministry of Culture, over 5 lakh youth have registered as volunteers this year to inspire citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes.

Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat described the campaign as more than an initiative, calling it “an emotional movement that unites 1.4 billion Indians” and aims to instill patriotism, civic pride, and awareness about the Tiranga’s significance as a living symbol of democracy and independence.

Senior officials from various ministries and the Central Armed Police Forces attended a detailed presentation on the campaign’s events and objectives. The movement seeks to transform the citizen–flag relationship from a formal association to a personal bond, serving as both a tribute to India’s freedom struggle and a reaffirmation of unity, integrity, and progress.
