Faisal Patel, son of late Congress stalwart Ahmed Patel, on Tuesday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his decisive leadership during Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror bases in Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.

Speaking to ANI, Faisal Patel said the armed forces had done an “excellent job” and commended Modi for steering the country out of a major crisis. “It can’t get better than the way the central government handled it. The armed forces were outstanding, and PM Modi showed remarkable leadership,” he noted, adding his admiration for External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Modi’s knack for placing capable bureaucrats in key ministerial roles.

While reaffirming his association with Congress, Patel voiced concern over the party’s internal functioning, claiming that advice from experienced leaders is often ignored. “Rahul Gandhi is hardworking, and leaders like Shashi Tharoor, DK Shivakumar, Revanth Reddy, Deependra Hooda, and Sachin Pilot are very capable. But seniors are not getting the right advice, and advisors keep changing,” he said.

Patel clarified that he has not left Congress but is on a sabbatical from public life. “The party is my family, and I have good relations with senior leaders. I still exist in Congress, and people in Gujarat speak highly of me,” he stated.

He also stressed that India remains in “safe hands” under the current leadership and the armed forces, even while acknowledging challenges like inflation and unemployment. “Modi, Jaishankar, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and Sudhanshu Trivedi are working hard for the country,” he said.
