Several parts of Delhi, including Janpath, Lajpat Nagar, and the Minto Bridge area, were lashed by rain on Thursday morning, a day after the national capital experienced heavy showers.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light to moderate rainfall across the Delhi-NCR region on Thursday, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in some areas. Locations such as Bahadurgarh and Manesar are expected to witness light to moderate rain with light thunderstorms, while widespread light rainfall is likely across the entire NCR.
In a post on X, the IMD stated, “Light to moderate rainfall accompanied with light thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at NCR (Bahadurgarh, Manesar). Light rainfall is very likely at the entire Delhi-NCR, including Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ballabhgarh. Very light rain or drizzle is expected over Delhi in the next two hours.”
Rainfall recorded between 8:30 AM on Wednesday and 6:30 AM on Thursday showed that Salwan Public School (East Delhi) received the highest amount with 42 mm, followed by Pusa (Central Delhi) with 40 mm, and the Sports Complex (New Delhi) with 38 mm. Other notable figures include:
- Safdarjung (Southwest Delhi): 34 mm
- Najafgarh: 23.5 mm
- Pragati Maidan: 22.1 mm
- KV Narayana: 20.5 mm
- Lodi Road: 18.5 mm
- KV Janakpuri: 18 mm
- Aya Nagar: 13 mm
For Thursday, the IMD has predicted a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rainfall and possible thunderstorms or lightning.
Temperatures are expected to remain cooler than usual, with maximums between 30–32°C and minimums between 23–25°C — about 2 to 4°C below the normal seasonal range.
