Air India cancelled several international and domestic flights on Friday, citing enhanced aircraft maintenance, adverse weather conditions, and ongoing airspace restrictions as key reasons for the disruptions.

The cancellations affected routes connecting major cities including Dubai, Delhi, Chennai, Melbourne, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

In an official statement, Air India confirmed the following international flights were cancelled:

  • AI906 (Dubai to Chennai)
  • AI308 (Delhi to Melbourne)
  • AI309 (Melbourne to Delhi)
  • AI2204 (Dubai to Hyderabad)

Domestic routes impacted include:

  • AI874 (Pune to Delhi)
  • AI456 (Ahmedabad to Delhi)
  • AI2872 (Hyderabad to Mumbai)
  • AI571 (Chennai to Mumbai)

“Due to enhanced maintenance and operational reasons, including airspace limitations and severe weather conditions, we regret to inform that certain flights have been cancelled. Our teams are assisting affected passengers with rebooking and full refunds or complimentary rescheduling options,” the airline said.

Air India advised passengers to check their flight status through the official website or contact its customer care helplines (011 69329333 / 011 69329999) before heading to the airport.

“Disruptions are anticipated to continue due to ongoing aircraft checks and regional airspace closures. All updates will be promptly shared with passengers,” the statement added.

The disruptions follow an earlier announcement on Thursday, where Air India said it would temporarily suspend or reduce several international routes operated by Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft from June 21 to July 15, 2025, in light of additional safety checks and extended flight times due to Middle East airspace closures.

The airline reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and schedule stability, urging travellers to remain updated through official channels.
