As part of a multi-nation outreach, members of an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation strongly condemned the misuse of religion by terrorist groups and called for unified global support in the fight against cross-border terrorism.
During an interaction with prominent figures in Bahrain, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP Asaduddin Owaisi stressed that terrorist organizations are distorting Islamic teachings to justify the killing of innocents. “These terrorist groups have quoted Quranic verses out of context to justify murder,” Owaisi said. “Islam unequivocally condemns terrorism. The Quran clearly states that the killing of one innocent person is akin to killing all of humanity.”
Owaisi’s comments were echoed by Democratic Progressive Azad Party chief and former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who appealed for stronger global backing to dismantle terror infrastructure. “We need support at every international forum, including the OIC. Our aim is not to harm any country, but to ensure that Pakistan dismantles its terror infrastructure and takes decisive action against terrorists,” Azad said.
Representing the BJP, Member of Parliament S. Phangnon Konyak highlighted that Pakistan’s hostile activities have persisted since India’s partition. “Pakistan has not ceased its terror activities since 1947,” she said. “We urge Bahrain to hold Pakistan accountable. India has made its stance clear—if we are attacked again, we will respond with resolve.”
The delegation is led by BJP MP Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda and includes MPs Nishikant Dubey (BJP), Rekha Sharma (BJP), Satnam Singh Sandhu, Asaduddin Owaisi (AIMIM), Ghulam Nabi Azad, and former Ambassador Harsh Vardhan Shringla. Their visit comes in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians were killed.
The delegation’s mission spans Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria, and aims to convey India’s firm zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. The initiative is part of a broader effort to counter misinformation, build international consensus, and ensure that terror sponsors are held accountable.
Seven such all-party groups have been dispatched globally, each headed by a Member of Parliament, in a unified effort to reinforce India’s strong response to terrorism and uphold its national security interests on the international stage.
