Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is set to launch the ‘Shiksha Nyay Samvad’ initiative in Darbhanga, Bihar today, marking the beginning of a state-wide outreach campaign focused on education and youth empowerment.

This initiative, rolled out just months before the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, aims to address critical issues faced by students, including delayed degrees, unemployment, and lack of educational opportunities. Gandhi departed for Darbhanga Thursday morning, where he will interact with students and youth.

In a post on X, the Bihar Congress said, “Education justice begins in Bihar from May 15! Rahul Gandhi is bringing ‘Shiksha Nyay Samvad’ — a voice for the rights of the youth. Now students will get their degrees on time and secure jobs. No more debt — you will get your rights based on merit!”

Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar elaborated on the initiative during a press conference on Wednesday, stating that the party will hold ‘Nyay Samvad’ events across the state. The discussions will focus on education, employment, and equitable participation for all sections of society. Feedback from these dialogues will shape the party’s ‘Nyay Patra’ or justice manifesto for the state elections.

Gandhi’s visit to Darbhanga will include meetings with students at colleges, universities, and hostels. His outreach comes amid rising discontent among youth in Bihar over issues like the BPSC Teacher Recruitment Exam 3.0. On May 7, police resorted to a lathi-charge against protestors near Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s residence over alleged discrepancies in the exam results and vacant teaching posts.

Rahul Gandhi has been actively engaging with student and youth issues in Bihar. On April 7, he joined the NSUI’s ‘Palayan Roko, Naukri Do’ rally in Begusarai, highlighting the party’s growing focus on education and employment ahead of the polls.

The Bihar Assembly elections for all 243 seats are scheduled for October or November 2025.
