Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan have made a comeback to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) central contracts for the 2024–25 season, which runs from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025. After being dropped last year due to their absence from the Ranji Trophy, both players have now been reinstated.

Iyer has been placed in Grade B, while Kishan finds a spot in Grade C. The Grade B list also includes Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The Grade C category features a large group of players, including Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, and Dhruv Jurel, among others.

Rohit Sharma, India’s Test captain, continues to be part of the elite Grade A+ category alongside Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja. The Grade A list comprises top performers such as Mohammed Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami, and Rishabh Pant.

In IPL news, Rohit Sharma etched his name in the record books yet again by surpassing Virat Kohli to become the player with the most ‘Player of the Match’ (POTM) awards in IPL history. His unbeaten 76-run knock off 45 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru earned him his 20th POTM award in 264 matches.

With this, Rohit moved ahead of Kohli’s 19 awards in 260 games. Other top players on the list include MS Dhoni and David Warner (18 each), while AB de Villiers (25) and Chris Gayle (22) continue to lead.

Additionally, Rohit surpassed Shikhar Dhawan to become the second-highest run-scorer in IPL history, with 6,786 runs to his name. This season, Rohit has accumulated 158 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 154.90.
