Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) batter Yashasvi Jaiswal heaped praise on 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi after the teenager delivered a breathtaking century in RR’s dominant eight-wicket win over Gujarat Titans (GT) in Jaipur.
Chasing a daunting 210-run target, Suryavanshi lit up the Sawai Mansingh Stadium with an explosive 101 off just 38 balls, smashing seven fours and eleven sixes. His knock powered RR to victory in just 15.5 overs, alongside Jaiswal, who remained unbeaten on 70 from 40 balls.
“Incredible innings, one of the best I have seen,” Jaiswal said in admiration of the young prodigy. “I was telling him to just keep going. He just played amazing shots. He practises well, works hard, and has both the game and the temperament. I wish him all the luck.”
Jaiswal also acknowledged the importance of finishing games—an area where RR had previously faltered. “We were talking that somebody needs to stay and finish the game after the last three matches. I was there today and tried my best.”
During the match, Jaiswal also reached a personal milestone by completing 2,000 IPL runs, adding a composed knock featuring nine boundaries and two sixes.
Reflecting on the team’s approach moving forward, Jaiswal reiterated the message from the RR camp: “Our coach says take it one game at a time and give 100% each game.”
In the first innings, GT posted a strong 209/4, led by skipper Shubman Gill’s 84 and Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 50, while Maheesh Theekshana (2/35) was the pick of the RR bowlers.
The RR reply was nothing short of ruthless, with the 166-run stand between Suryavanshi and Jaiswal setting a new record for the franchise. A late cameo from Riyan Parag (32 off 15)* sealed the chase in under 16 overs.
Despite the emphatic win, RR remains eighth on the points table with three wins from ten matches, while GT holds the third spot with six wins from nine.
