Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 5 pm on Sunday, the Prime Minister’s Office announced.

The address comes on the eve of Navratri and coincides with the rollout of recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, which reduced the 12% and 28% tax slabs. A 40% slab will continue to apply to luxury and sin goods such as tobacco, pan masala, aerated sugary beverages, luxury vehicles, high-end motorcycles, yachts, and helicopters.

Earlier today, PM Modi extended greetings on Mahalaya, saying on X, “As the sacred days of Durga Puja draw near, may our lives be filled with light and purpose. May Maa Durga bless us with strength, joy and good health.”

On Monday, the Prime Minister will begin a two-state visit to Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura, where he will lay the foundation stone for projects worth over ₹5,100 crore, including hydropower projects, infrastructure initiatives, and the redevelopment of the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex.
