PM Modi Pays Tribute to Sir M. Visvesvaraya on Engineers’ Day, Calls Engineers Pillars of a Viksit Bharat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended greetings on the occasion of Engineers’ Day, paying homage to Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on his birth anniversary.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister lauded Visvesvaraya’s pioneering contributions, stating, “Today, on Engineers’ Day, I pay homage to Sir M. Visvesvaraya, whose brilliance left an indelible mark on India’s engineering landscape. I extend warm greetings to all engineers who, through their creativity and determination, continue to drive innovation and tackle tough challenges across sectors.”

PM Modi also emphasised that Indian engineers will continue to play a crucial role in building a Viksit Bharat, contributing to technological progress and national development.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah echoed the sentiment, calling engineers the backbone of India’s technological advancement. “Your vision, innovation, and dedication are fast advancing India to the pinnacle of technological progress. On the Jayanti of Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya Ji, I bow to the legendary engineer who set us on this transformative path,” he wrote.

Odisha Chief Minister also paid rich tributes, describing Visvesvaraya as a nation-builder whose engineering marvels laid the foundation of modern India’s infrastructure.

Born in 1861, Sir M. Visvesvaraya was not only an engineer but also a statesman, economist, and visionary planner. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1955 for his outstanding contributions to engineering, public service, and nation-building. His groundbreaking designs and practical solutions revolutionised India’s infrastructure, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations.

National Engineers’ Day, celebrated annually on September 15, commemorates his life and achievements, honouring the engineers of today who carry forward his spirit of innovation and dedication.
