A day after her suspension from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for alleged “anti-party activities,” party founder K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter and MLC K. Kavitha announced her resignation from the party and the Legislative Council.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Kavitha alleged that BRS leaders T. Harish Rao and J. Santosh Rao, in collusion with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, were “planning to destroy our family and party.”
“After my release from Tihar jail, I actively worked for BC reservations and against the Congress government while carrying the BRS flag. I don’t understand how these can be termed anti-party activities,” she said.
Kavitha further claimed that cases were selectively filed against her family—KCR and KTR—but not against Harish Rao. She alleged that Harish Rao had colluded with Revanth Reddy and even funded efforts against KCR and KTR during the Assembly elections.
Describing Harish Rao as a “bubble shooter” rather than a troubleshooter, Kavitha accused him and Santosh Rao of being behind conspiracies within the party, including those related to the Kaleshwaram project, for which the Telangana government has ordered a CBI probe.
“Revanth Reddy and Harish Rao planned to destroy our family while travelling together on a flight. Revanth Reddy should answer for this,” she asserted.
Kavitha’s outburst came just a day after BRS suspended her for publicly criticising Harish Rao and Santosh Rao. With her resignation, a major rift in the Rao family and the party has now spilled into the open.
